#1339 Last Night in Soho

Beitrag von Kasi Mir »

Director Edgar Wright is a true Sneak regular - in fact apart from his 1995 no-budget debut "A Fistful of Fingers" all of his scripted movies were shown on our screen, from #0523 "Shaun of the Dead" all the way up to #1172 "Baby Driver". We only missed out on his documentary "The Sparks Brothers", curiously about the authors and composers of last week's film. 8) "Last Night in Soho" was co-written by Wright himself and "1917" scribe Krysty Wilson-Cairns, and is more more step away from his original comedy/spoof fare - it's a mystery thriller, though there are some funny moments throughout. As with is last film, "Last Night" is heavily dependent on music, this time of 1960s pop, which is played at high volume not only in the 1960s scenes of the film. But here's the trailer:

And how did you like this film, arguably the forth this year with horror elements? How did you like the performances, most of all by Thomasin McKenzie (last seen in "Jojo Rabbit") as student Eloise, and Anya Taylor-Joy in dream sequences (or are they?) as wannabe singer Sandy, but of course also by Terence Stamp as <redacted> and the late Diana Rigg in her final role as landylady Ms Collins? Write down how you enjoyed "Last Night in Soho" in a reply to this post.
"Sometimes, you can still catch me dancing in it."
"My mind has an endless capacity for useless information."
