#1134 American Honey

Beitrag von Kasi Mir »

First a little "six dregrees"-kind of connection to the movie from last week: Riley Keough, who plays the boss Krystal of the crew of door-to-door salesmen, is the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley, and therefore the granddaughter of the King.

The film from this week is the fourth feature by british director Andrea Arnold, who won the coveted jury prize of the Cannes film festival for her 2006 debut "Red Road", and then won again with her second feature "Fish Tank". This year, she actually won for a third time with her first film set in America, which portaits a young, very poor girl who joins a ragtag group of magazine salesmen, feels right at home with the heavy-drinking, smoking and partying crowd, but has some trouble adapting to the anything-for-a-sale attitude of her new co-workers.

Here's the trailer for "American Honey", yet another in the endless series of sneak movies with "American" in the title:

Well, how did you like the two-and-a-half hour ride through America? What did you think about the performances, from Riley Keough, and of course from the two leads, former child actor and "Transformers" star Shia LaBeouf, and complete newcomer Sasha Lane as Star (who was reportedly cast at the beach while on Spring Break, and never acted before)? You can enter your thoughts as a reply to this post - no magazine subscription necessary. And no Rihanna songs ... 8-)

Joa, was soll man dazu sagen...
